Specific Grants
General Mills: Champions for Healthy Kids Grant
Fifty $10,000 grants are awarded each year to community based groups that have developed new and
creative ways to help kids improve their diet and incorporate physical activity into their lifestyle.
3-A-Day of Dairy
Nutrition Education Grants
Applications
Grants of $5,000 are awarded at the state/regional level to individuals or organizations with innovative
ideas for nutrition education programs aimed at empowering youth ages 9-18 to be advocates of a
healthy diet and promote three servings of dairy a day.
Share Our Strength - The Great American Bake Sale grants program will support efforts to increase
participation among low-income children in summer and afterschool meal programs. Share Our
Strength is specifically interested in increasing participation in meal programs that utilize USDA
reimbursement through the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), National School Lunch Program
(NSLP), or Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Nonprofit organizations that work to increase
the number of children that receive nutritious afterschool and summer meals may be eligible to apply
for funds raised through the Great American Bake Sale.
Team Nutrition Training Grants offer funding to state agencies to establish and enhance sustainable
infrastructures for implementing Team Nutrition.
Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program offers funding for specific schools to purchase fresh fruits and
vegetables.
The Allen Foundation was founded by William Allen Webster, an agricultural chemist, in 1975. The
foundation makes grants to education, training and research projects benefiting human nutrition.
Love Your Veggies
Nationwide School Lunch Campaign sponsored by Hidden Valley
$10,000 grant will be awarded to 51 elementary schools, one in every state that supports programs to
increase access and consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables during school meals.
Healthy Eating Research is a program from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJH) for
research on promoting healthy eating among children to prevent obesity primarily in those groups at
greatest risk.
Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP) Grant
U.S Department of Education
This grant provides funds to initiate the expansion and improvement of physical education programs
for grades K-12.
