Maine Harvest Lunch 2007 was a success!  We
celebrated Maine foods and increased student's
awareness of where their food comes from!   Look
at what some directors served!  Let us know what
you did!
Nykki Grindle in Bar Harbor:
Hamburger/Gravy  (Not able to get
local beef) Mashed Potato, Roasted
Veggies, Carrots & Zucchini with
Blueberry Crisp for dessert
Millinocket Schools served:
Aroostook Baked Potato Bar w/Broccoli
& Cheddar Cheese - (all from
Aroostook county) or Local Beef &
Bean Chili & Chips or Chicken Tenders
& Oven Fries
there were many sides available from
Maine Farms: Organic Wheat (Aurora
Mills) Rolls w/Maine Maple Butter, Corn
on the Cob, Mashed Butternut Squash,
Sliced Cucumbers, & Tomatoes,
Apples, Wild Blueberry Crisp and
Garelick Dairy Milk
all items came from Maine Farms &
producers.
Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor CSD#3
and Union 49, Southport and
Edgecomb had a
successful Harvest lunch.

The menu was:
Vegeterian Chili
Baked Potatoes with broccoli and
cheese sauce
Tossed salad w/ Homemade honey
mustard dressing
Whole Wheat bread w/ Strawberry Jam
Cornmeal Bread Corn on the cob
Blueberry Cobbler/  Chef Cheryl  
Wixson 's recipe
Apples
Milk
Notre Dame in Saco had a harvest meal with corn
donated by a parent...fresh tomatoes and cukes for
our salad bar.
An option for breakfast was fresh blueberry muffins,
berries picked for the students by another generous
parent.  I often get fresh veggies from local gardens.
What a great idea.  We tried fresh haddock off the
Camp Ellis docks, but the kids did not care for the
fish.
Five Town CSD / MSAD# 28 in Rockport
1st: Organic Burgers
2nd: BLT's with Maine Bread, Lettuce and Tomatoes .
3rd: Crab Stuffed Potabella Mushrooms
4th: Veggie Pizza using Maine Crust and Cheese
5th: Ruebens with all Maine ingredients
6th: Salad Bar Items from our greenhouse
Durham Schools had bisson meat burgers, corn on the
cob, lettuce and tomato and blueberry cake using wild
Maine blueberries, and of course, Maine made milk.
Camden Hills
had native
Maine Crabmeat!
Monmouth had turkey with
gravy, baked potatoes, corn on the
cob, pumpkin muffins, apple crisp, and
milk.  This was their biggest lunch
count so far this year.

Above Annette parent volunteer from Millinocket
is ready to help students make choices from all
these delicious Maine Foods!
York schools served fresh corn on the
cob, garden salad, apples and milk
with their whole wheat veggie pizza.
Students enjoyed husking their corn in
the school yard early in the morning to
help with the celebration.
